Established in 1974 under the charter of Little League International, our organization has been at the heart of our community for nearly five decades. Originally known as Calaveras Little League, our journey began with a shared passion for baseball and a vision to provide local youth with a chance to experience the joy of the game.
A pivotal moment came in the 1990s when we secured a grant to construct the Frogtown baseball fields. Nestled within the fairgrounds, these fields have since become a cherished part of our community's landscape. What sets us apart is that our dedicated volunteers maintain these fields year-round, ensuring they are always in top-notch condition.
In exchange for access to the fairgrounds property, we gladly supply the volunteers needed for admission and parking responsibilities during the annual Frog Jump Jubilee, a delightful partnership that benefits both our league and the broader community.
Over the years, as our community evolved and boundaries shifted, our league underwent transformations of its own. In 2014, we proudly adopted the name "Bret Harte Little League" to better reflect our identity and connection to the region.
Today, Bret Harte Little League welcomes aspiring baseball players aged 4 to 15. Our divisions cater to players of all ages and skill levels, from Tee Ball and Machine Pitch to Minors, Majors, and Juniors. We believe that baseball is more than just a sport; it's a way to teach valuable life lessons, foster teamwork, and create lifelong memories.
What truly sets us apart is that our league is entirely run by passionate volunteers who share a love for the game and a commitment to positively shaping the lives of our youth. We know that volunteers are the lifeblood of our organization, and we're always on the lookout for more dedicated individuals to join our team. Together, we strive to enhance the overall baseball experience and ensure that Bret Harte Little League continues to thrive for generations to come.
